Homeward Bound Pet Shelter
In July 2005, Homeward Bound became a division of Macon Resources, Inc. (MRI). It's a great partnership that helps pets and people with disabilities.
The mission of Homeward Bound Pet Shelter is to shelter and rehabilitate relinquished cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies until they can be permanently adopted into loving homes.
We try to maintain a stress-free environment for our cats and dogs while they wait for their new families. Cats are free to roam in their rooms, and dogs have visiting rooms and a fenced outside play area.
All animals are spayed/neutered, kept up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. Plus, they’ve been tested for heartworms or feline leukemia/FIV and kept on monthly flea control and heartworm protection.

Your dog will LOVE the all-natural gourmet treats! A portion of the proceeds benefit Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.

- Thursday, September 30, 2010From June 19 through September 30, Homeward Bound is having a "Dog Days of Summer" adoption special on DOGS and CATS! Take advantage of these drastically reduced fees and give a furry friend a new home!
- Pure bred Dogs (over 6 months): was $175; NOW $100
- Mixed bred Dogs (over 6 months): was $140; NOW $75
- Pure bred Puppies (under 6 months): was $195; NOW $125
- Mixed bred Puppies (under 6 months): was $160; NOW $95
- Senior Dogs (8 years and older): was $75; NOW $50
- Special Dogs (select dogs with special needs): was $140; NOW $50
- Purebred Cats (over 6 months): was $150; NOW $75
- Adult Cats (over 6 months): was $100; NOW $50
- Give a home to a second adult cat for an additional $15
- All Kittens (under 6 months): was $150; NOW $75
- Give a home to a second kitten for an additional $25
- Senior Cats (8 years and older): was $75; NOW $50
- Special Cats (select cats with special needs): $30
The reduced fees apply to applications completed with a non-refundable $20 processing fee (applied towards the adoption fee) between June 19-September 30. No application will be processed without the $20 processing fee. Normal processing time is 48 to 72 hours. Standard adoption criteria MUST be met. Homeward Bound reserves the right to deny any application for any reason. In the case of denial, the $20 fee will be refunded. Homeward Bound reserves the right to determine the category for each adoptable animal.
Dog Days of Summer - August 28

The 2nd annual Dog Days of Summer event will be Saturday, August 28 at Long Creek Vineyards from 3:00-8:00pm. Admission is $10 per person ($5 if you bring your Long Creek Vineyards glass). You must be 21 or older to attend.
The event benefits Homeward Bound Pet Shelter and feature wine tasting, specialty beers, live music by Chris Bradley (3:00-4:00) and Soul Purpose band (4:00-7:30), food, and a silent auction featuring lots of items, gift baskets, pet items, and 2 round-trip Allegiant Airline tickets from Peoria to a one of three destinations!! Plus, stop by the Millie & Bo's Barkery, Pampered Chef, and Pasta Alley booths!
